Jungwoo Ryoo has been selected as the inaugural associate dean for adult education at Penn State Altoona, with his new role beginning on July 1, 2027. Until that date, Ryoo will remain in his current position as chancellor and chief academic officer at Penn State DuBois, where he has overseen academic programs and campus operations. The appointment marks a strategic move by the university to expand and strengthen its offerings for adult learners at the Altoona campus.
Ryoo brings extensive experience in higher education leadership, having served at Penn State DuBois since 2019. His background includes work in curriculum development, faculty support, and community engagement. In his new capacity, he will focus on creating flexible learning pathways, including evening and online programs, designed to meet the needs of working adults and nontraditional students. The role is part of a broader university initiative to increase access to education for lifelong learners in central Pennsylvania. Ryoo expressed enthusiasm for the opportunity, noting that adult education is a growing priority for the institution.
