KOHLER, Wis. - Local 5 anchor Stacy Engebretson took the stage Thursday evening to serve as emcee for the Eastern Wisconsin Excellence in Education Awards. The event, held in Kohler, honored outstanding educators, administrators, and support staff from across the region.
Engebretson guided the ceremony, introducing award recipients and sharing highlights of their contributions to local schools. The annual program recognizes individuals who have demonstrated exceptional dedication to student success, innovative teaching methods, and leadership within their districts.
Dozens of nominees were considered across multiple categories, including teacher of the year, rookie educator, and lifetime achievement. Each winner received a commemorative plaque and a monetary award sponsored by local businesses and community organizations.
Attendees included school board members, superintendents, and families who came to celebrate the honorees. The evening featured speeches from past winners and a keynote address focused on the importance of supporting public education.
For Engebretson, the role was a return to familiar ground. She has hosted the awards for several years, using her platform to spotlight the often-unseen work happening in classrooms. The ceremony concluded with a reception where guests mingled with the honorees and shared stories from the school year.
