Wolverine, the longtime work boot and apparel brand, has joined forces with the Metallica Scholars initiative to release a limited-edition collection aimed at supporting workforce education. The new line includes boots, jackets, and shirts designed for durability on the job site, but the real focus is on what the sales will fund: skilled trades training programs across the country.
A portion of proceeds from each item sold will go directly to the Metallica Scholars program, which provides grants to community colleges for hands-on training in fields like welding, machining, electrical work, and automotive technology. The partnership highlights a growing push to close the skills gap in the trades, an area that has struggled to attract new workers in recent years.
The collection itself keeps things practical. The boots feature slip-resistant outsoles and waterproof leather, while the apparel uses heavy-duty canvas and reinforced stitching. Wolverine says the design was inspired by the grit and precision of both metal fabrication and live performance.
This is not the first time the rock band has backed trade education. Since launching the Scholars program in 2019 through its foundation, Metallica has helped fund training for thousands of students. By teaming up with an established workwear brand, the initiative now reaches a wider audience of people who actually work in the trades.
The collection is available online and in select stores for a limited time.
