Northwest Educational Service District 189 has introduced a new Regional Career and Technical Education Dual Credit Database this month, designed to make information on college credit opportunities much easier to find. The online tool pulls together details from across the region, so students, parents, and school counselors no longer have to dig through separate websites or call multiple offices to compare options.

The database focuses specifically on career and technical education courses that offer dual credit, meaning students can earn both high school and college credit at the same time. That can save money on future tuition and give students a head start on certificates or associate degrees. Until now, the information was scattered, with each school district or college maintaining its own list. That made it tough for families to know what was actually available, especially when looking at programs outside their home district.

With the new system, users can search by subject area, location, or the type of credential earned. The goal is to make the process transparent and straightforward, so students can plan their high school years with a clearer picture of what they can achieve. ESD 189 officials say the database will be updated regularly as new courses and partnerships are added.

For now, the tool covers programs within the ESD 189 region, which includes schools in Skagit, Snohomish, and Whatcom counties. School staff have been trained on how to use it, and the district plans to gather feedback from students and families over the next few months to refine the experience.
