LCSD1 approves new special education, architectural service contracts Monday

CHEYENNE, Wyo. - The Laramie County School District 1 board of trustees handled a slate of routine but necessary business during its second-to-last meeting of the summer on Monday evening. Among the key items, the board gave the green light to a new set of contracts related to special education services and architectural design work for upcoming facility projects.

The special education contracts cover a range of support services for the upcoming school year, including specialized instructional coaching, behavioral intervention training, and consulting for individualized education program compliance. District officials noted that these agreements were competitively bid and align with state and federal requirements for serving students with disabilities.

In addition, the board approved architectural service contracts tied to planned maintenance and renovation work at several school buildings. The agreements will allow the district to move forward with design phases for projects slated to begin in the next fiscal year, which include updates to aging HVAC systems and classroom reconfigurations at two elementary schools.

The board also heard a brief update on enrollment projections for the fall, which show a slight uptick from last year. No action was taken on that item. The next and final meeting of the summer is scheduled for late August, just before teachers report back for professional development days.
