Board of Education reveals four finalists for Baltimore County Schools superintendent

The Baltimore County Board of Education has announced the four candidates still in the running to become the next superintendent of Baltimore County Public Schools. The finalists were selected after a months-long search process that drew interest from educators across the country.

The four finalists include a current deputy superintendent from a nearby district, a former principal who now leads a state education agency, a chief academic officer from a large urban school system, and a regional superintendent with experience in turnaround schools. Each candidate will now undergo a series of public interviews and community forums over the next two weeks.

Board members said the group represents a strong mix of leadership styles and backgrounds. The search committee focused on candidates with a track record of improving student outcomes, managing large budgets, and navigating complex school systems. The finalists will also meet with parent groups, teacher unions, and local elected officials before a final decision is made.

The new superintendent will take over a district of roughly 111,000 students and more than 170 schools. The previous superintendent resigned last year amid disagreements with the board over academic policy and budget priorities. The board expects to name the new leader by the end of the month.
