The Education Foundation of Lake County celebrated a significant milestone recently with the 20th anniversary of its signature fundraiser, Stepping Out for Education. The event brought together local leaders, educators, and residents for an evening focused on both entertainment and giving back to the community.
This year, the theme was Velvet and Vinyl, which set the tone for a night of rock and rhythm. The highlight of the evening was the lineup of local celebrity dancers, who spent weeks preparing routines to impress the crowd and judges. Their performances were not just for show; each participant helped raise critical funds for students across the county.
Since its start, the event has raised more than one million dollars to support classroom grants, teacher supplies, and student scholarships. Organizers say the anniversary was a chance to reflect on the growth of the program and the many partners who have made it possible over the years.
Attendees enjoyed music, dinner, and a live auction, all while celebrating the collective effort to strengthen public education. The foundation expressed gratitude to the sponsors, volunteers, and dancers who continue to make the event a success. With two decades in the books, supporters are already looking ahead to the next 20 years of making a difference for Lake County students.
